Are you ready for some dance? We sure are!
As we do each year, we’re kicking things off with the Dance Showcase, an opportunity for you to check out some of Northeast Ohio’s amazing
professional dance companies. Show your support for our local dance community, check out their latest work and bring your friends or children! Make plans to join us on Friday, September 9 at 7 p.m. in the Palace Theatre.
As part of this year’s Dance Showcase, you can catch a sneak peek of Twyla Tharp’s new Broadway musical, Come Fly Away, featuring the legendary
vocals of Frank Sinatra. Two of the show’s principal dancers are traveling to Cleveland to perform “That’s Life.”
From ballet to cultural to modern, you’ll find a variety of dance performances on our calendar throughout the season. Royal Winnipeg Ballet will present the holiday classic The Nutcracker, and we’ll welcome the ever-popular
Lord of the Dance and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Cuyahoga Community College is presenting the Joe Goode Performance Group and Philadanco, while DANCECleveland brings Aszure Barton and Artists, Ballet Memphis and the Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollack Dance Company from Israel to PlayhouseSquare’s stages.
“A universal language as old as mankind and as new as a premiere performance, dance is a wordless art form that speaks for itself,” Wilma Salisbury, Plain Dealer dance critic (retired).
