Happening on Broadway …
‘Streetcar’ Revival showcases seasoned actors
Daphne Rubin-Vega, well-known for her role of Mimi in Rent will join Wood Harris of HBO’s The Wire in a 2012 revival production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Vega will take on the role of female lead Stella, Stanley’s timid wife, while Harris will play Mitch, Stanley’s tough pal who develops an interest in Blanche.
Ghost set to haunt Broadway
Patrick Swayze’s Ghost will begin previews in New York in March 2012, according to the New York Times. With new songs from Grammy Award winner Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Glen Ballad (Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill), the show is sure to be a scary delight.
Addams Family to move off Broadway
The Addams Family is set to end its run at the Lunt-Fontane Theatre at the end of the year. The musical, based on the family of characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams, will kick of its national tour on September 15, and will hit PlayhouseSquare April 10.

Aretha Franklin will be honored at the 16th annual American Music Masters series, presented by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and Case Western Reserve University. Franklin will be honored with a tribute concert in conjunction with the American Music Masters series at Playhouse Square’s State Theatre on November 5.
