Remember back to November, when Billy Elliot The Musical and the adorable Giuseppe Bausilio were in town? Giuseppe’s mom, who owns two ballet schools with her husband, taught a master class for PlayhouseSquare at the IdeaCenter during that time.
Mama Bausilio spotted Emma Von Enck in the class and thought she would make a good dance partner for Giuseppe. They met and rehearsed at PlayhouseSquare, then performed a pas de deux at the Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest ballet scholarship competition, in New York City in March. (Giuseppe was discovered by the casting director of Billy Elliot The Musical at the 2009 YAGP.)
Although they did not place, they received good feedback from the judges. Giuseppe placed third overall in his age division. Both Emma and Giuseppe are studying ballet in New York on scholarships this summer, and Giuseppe is now playing the role of Billy on Broadway.
The aspiring artists that participate in our master classes always enjoy unique learning opportunities and the chance to connect with those that inspire them…and sometimes magic happens.
