Happening on Broadway …

Glee to close season on Wicked stage

Broadway.com reported that Glee stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer will be performing “For Good” on Wicked’s Gershwin Theatre stage in New York City as a part of the show’s season finale. The McKinley High singers are in New York for the national glee competition as part of the episode, which will air Tuesday, May 24.

Motown Records founder develops autobiographical musical

The New York Post reported Berry Gordy Jr., founder of Motown Records, is currently working on turning his professional life story into a musical. Collaborating with Universal Music CEO Doug Morris and Rent producer Kevin McCollum, Gordy wants the show to “to set the record straight on the inception of the iconic label,” the Post reported. While there isn’t a timetable yet, the show is said to be full of Motown classics, many of which Gordy already owns the rights to.

One Acts by Woody Allen, Ethan Coen headed to Broadway

John Turturro is set to make his directorial debut on Broadway with his work on an evening of one-acts written by Woody Allen, Ethan Coen and Elaine May. The collection, Relatively Speaking, is also Coen’s first work on Broadway, after seeing success with his Off Broadway series of one-acts, Almost an Evening and Offices. The show is scheduled for previews in September.
