It’s live. It’s unpredictable. And it rhymes with “phony,”, but it’s the farthest thing from it. You guessed it, the Tony’s® are here! Audiences raved about 2009 host, Neil Patrick Harris, and he returns as host of the 65th annual Tonys on June 12th, 2011. Get ready for a night filled with laughter, heartache and tears (oh my!). That night, there will be so much talent under one roof, the walls of New York City’s Beacon Theatre might cave in.
CBS will broadcast the Tonys live this year and here’s little a secret: “live” is Broadway lingo for Anything Goes!- which happens to be one of the 2011 Tony nominated productions for “Best Revival of a Musical”. Will they snag the Tony, or maybe Sister Act will take home the shiny, gold trophy? To say that “Good People” are going to be there is an understatement. Will Frances McDormand win “Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play”? We bet some of you think Al Pacino will beat Bobby Cannavale for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play.” The Tony’s separate the men from the boys…The Scottsboro Boys, that is. You see, there is no rule book to follow on the evening of June 12th- only The Book of Mormon (the new musical from the creators of South Park). So make the effort to “Catch Me if You Can”, and if you do, you can join me in watching the Tony Awards!
