Meows won’t just be coming from the Palace Theatre stage for the January 23 matinee performance of CATS.
PlayhouseSquare has teamed up with the Cleveland Animal Protective League, and at this performance, show-goers will have the opportunity to check out adoptable felines before the show and during intermission.
The Cleveland Animal Protective League is a nonprofit humane society and provides shelter to homeless animals relinquished by their guardians, animals that are rescued from abuse or neglect, and stray or abandoned cats.
According to statistics from ASPCA, there are an estimated 70 million stray cats in the United States, and the average fertile cat has between eight and 12 kittens a year. Between 10 and 20 percent of people who bring cats and dogs into their homes each year acquire them from shelters.
Taking home one of the Cleveland APL’s adoptable cats this weekend can make a difference for one of these furry friends without a home. And if you can’t make up your mind at the performance, just hold on to your CATS ticket because it will be honored at the APL for a discount on your adoption through February 14.
A familiar face in Cleveland animal rights will also be on hand for the performance. Fox8 meteorologist Dick Goddard and director Vicki Stracensky will be signing copies of the children’s book Wise on Weather! Stracensky authored the book, which is a poem, seasonal safety guide and weather dictionary for kids, all in 32 pages, and Goddard illustrated it.
There’s a lot going on – and there’s still tickets available to the CATS performance. Learn more about the show and order tickets today!
