Happening on Broadway…
Merchant of Venice starring Pacino extended
There’s more time to see film legend Al Pacino in The Merchant of Venice on Broadway. The run, which started in mid-November, was scheduled to end on January 9, but after weeks of it being one of Broadway’s top-grossing shows, producers decided to add additional performances in February. Chenoweth to star in own Glee-type sitcom
Kristen Chenoweth is continuing to prove she’s made for both stage and TV. The petite actress, known her Broadway work in Wicked and Promises, Promises and her television work in Pushing Daisies and The West Wing, will be starring in her own musical sitcom – a more mature version of Glee. Chenoweth has appeared in two episodes of Glee so far, and is set to appear on it again in the spring.
Spider-Man opening date pushed to February
With news of mishaps continuing to make mainstream news, the mega-musical Spider-Man’s producers have tentatively pushed the official opening to an unspecified date in February. The opening date was previously set to January 11. This is the fourth time the show’s opening has been delayed.

A Christmas Carol is one of the most beloved Christmas stories, and all of the men who have played Ebenezer Scrooge on film and on stage are just as notable. Last Sunday, the Plain Dealer caught up with two of Cleveland’s most famous Scrooges – one of whom has been performing in the Great Lakes Theater Festival’s production in the Hanna Theatre at PlayhouseSquare.
